LICENCES “CREATIVE COMMONS”

For your Works you can decide to keep all the moral and economic rights reserved for you, guaranteed by the various legislation in force from time to time on copyright, according to the traditional model “all rights reserved”. Or you can decide to give up a part of them by adopting one of the “Creative Commons” license types to allow an extended sharing of your works, according to the “some rights reserved” model. With the Creative Commons approach, you leave the possibility of using your work (a photo, a software, a recipe …) available to everyone, but you can prevent for example someone from appropriating it and exploiting it for commercial purposes. One of the most frequent uses is, in fact, to leave the use of the Work free as long as the author is mentioned (option: BY) or as long as it is not used commercially (option: NC).

Authors can choose their preferred license and, if they want to “show” their choice, they can place the license type icon. Below, we report the most used types and related icons, referring to the official sites of Creative Commons for the complete list: the English site of the foundation that carries out the Creative Commons project is here(the Italian site here)
